Private Swim Lesson FAQs

Why Private Lessons?

Private lessons are tailored specifically to each student’s skill level, goals, and comfort in the aquatic environment. How do I know the instructor will be a good match for me or my child?
Based on instructor bios, you can choose whoever you feel will be the best fit. Not the match you thought? You may switch to another instructor at any point. How long are the lessons?
  • In general, children from 3-9 years old take 25-30 minute lessons.
  • Children age 10-adults may take 55-60 minute lessons, or 25-30 minute lessons if anxiety, attention span, or other factors make it a more suitable choice.
  • For teens and adults in a hurry to learn, two hour lessons are an option.

How many lessons does it take to be an independent swimmer?
Although everyone learns at their own pace, in general, and this is very general, if there are no extra challenges to learning (anxiety, ADHD, water phobia or sensitivity, etc), a child ages five years and older may learn basic swim skills on their front and back in five or six lessons, and then smooth out their strokes in another five or six.

An adult, with no anxiety, water phobia, or extra challenges, generally learns to become an independent deep-water swimmer in two hours. This could be four lessons, or two extended lessons. What if I already know how to swim?
We offer stroke improvement lessons to current swimmers.

Do I have to decide now how many lessons I want?
